Kids Jam: music-based programme for 6-10 year olds
Kids Jam is a music based programme for children who:
- Are aged between 6 and 10 years old
- Experience ongoing challenges engaging socially with their peers
- Have become progressively isolated from taking part in the types of everyday activities which enhance their cognitive, emotional and physical developmental milestones
This programme is provided in certain locations (schools) only. Contact us for more information.
What to expect
In these sessions, children actively engage in improvised music however they can. Your child doesn't need to have any experience of singing or playing an instrument – the focus is on creating a motivating and engaging environment where kids can grow and learn.
Programme aims
Kids Jam aims to give children the chance to participate in activities that encourage team work, communication, confidence, movement and collaboration through music.
Staff and delivery
Programme staff may include AUT students from physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, podiatry, oral health, speech and language therapy and music therapy.
It is delivered in collaboration with the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre.
